GROWERS GUIDE

Artichoke (Jerusalem)

Not too difficult to grow

Plant 5cm long tubers 15cm deep, pointing upwards. Space 30cm apart and 90cm between rows. Choose fertile soil on a sunny site.

When 30cm tall, ‘earth-up’ by pulling soil to cover 10cm of stem. Stake if needed. Remove flowers for a bigger crop and cut stems to 15cm in autumn.

Remove all tubers by spring to stop re-growth.
