Not too difficult to grow
Sow seed 1cm deep in pots or rows. Thin or transplant seedlings to 15-20cm apart in fertile soil on a sunny site.
Dig up Witloof chicory in autumn to produce forced pale coloured shoots - cut off leaves, plant roots in wide pots and put in a cool dark place.
Cut compact leaves when firm. Cut forced shoots from Witloof in winter. Seedling leaves can be picked all year.
